Madhavi J. Parekh is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Columbia's Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine and the fellowship's Ultrasound Course Director; she is also Medical Director of Critical Care Education in the Medical ICU and directs the MICU resident rotation and medical-student sub-internship. A Brown PLME graduate (MD 2007, AOA), she has been at Columbia since 2007 for internal medicine residency and the PCCM fellowship (2010–2014, with a global-health research project on biomass fuel and lung function in Ghana and Ethiopia). Her clinical work centres on ARDS, ECMO and critical care ultrasound; she is a member of the SCCM Ultrasound Guidelines Committee and an author of the 2024 SCCM adult critical care ultrasonography guideline update, and has written reviews on extracorporeal support for ARDS and on lessons from ECMO for COVID-19 with the Center for Acute Respiratory Failure. She coauthored the Columbia mobile prone-team paper from the 2020 surge and an outcomes study from an Ethiopian medical ICU.
