Dominic E. Fullenkamp is an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and a board-certified cardiologist specializing in genetic heart disease. His clinical practice includes hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and heart disease related to neuromuscular disorders, using imaging, genetic testing, and personalized risk assessment. His research uses patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells and engineered heart tissues to study how genetic variants affect cardiomyocyte structure and function and to support precision treatment and prevention. He earned a biomedical engineering degree from Boston University, followed by MD and PhD training at Northwestern. He completed internal medicine training and cardiology fellowship at McGaw Northwestern, pursued postdoctoral training in Northwestern’s Center for Genetic Medicine, and mentors future physician-scientists.
