Philip Greenland is a Northwestern preventive-cardiology leader whose work has connected cardiovascular risk assessment, imaging, women’s cardiology and health policy. He is the Harry W. Dingman Professor of Cardiology and a professor of Preventive Medicine (Epidemiology) and Medicine (Cardiology) at Northwestern Feinberg. After cardiology fellowship at the University of Minnesota, he spent more than a decade at the University of Rochester as director of preventive cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation. He joined Northwestern in 1991 and chaired Preventive Medicine until 2005. Greenland became founding director of NUCATS when it launched in 2007 and principal investigator of Northwestern’s NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award in 2008. His documented work includes cardiovascular risk factors, coronary imaging and women’s cardiovascular outcomes.
