Michael August Blazing is a Duke cardiology faculty leader whose work connects cardiovascular prevention, evidence-based treatment, and care for patients with difficult-to-manage cholesterol, hypertension, and heart failure. He earned an M.D. from the University of California San Francisco in 1987, completed internal medicine residency there from 1987 to 1990, and completed cardiology training at Duke University Medical Center from 1991 to 1995. He has been Associate Professor of Medicine at Duke since 2007 and is director of Outpatient Services for the Duke cardiology practice. His research focuses on primary and secondary prevention, hypercholesterolemia, statin treatment, and analysis of discharge data. Earlier Duke roles included assistant professor of medicine and director of Duke’s Cardiac Outpatient Clinic.
