Jennifer Ann Cunningham

Jennifer Cunningham is an Associate Professor of Medicine in Columbia's Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine and an attending at NewYork-Presbyterian, where her clinical and teaching work centers on the medical ICU, pulmonary and critical care consultation, the pulmonary function laboratory and ventilator-management consultation. She is the medical director of the MICU nurse practitioner program (attending coordinator for the MICU-B NP/PA program, the Ventilator Management Team and the CARE teams), chairs MICU quality assurance and serves on the Subcommittee on Critical Care Therapeutics and on data safety monitoring boards. She earned her MD at Loyola Stritch and completed both internal medicine residency and PCCM fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia. Her publications include an early case report of ECMO in pregnancy, a Critical Care review of airway hygiene in the ICU and an Emerging Infectious Diseases study of nontuberculous mycobacteria in New York City, and she was a co-author of Columbia's crisis-standards ECMO report during COVID-19; before medicine she co-authored the 1997 Science paper identifying the coxsackievirus-adenovirus receptor. She is an AOA member and an inductee of Columbia's Academy of Clinical Excellence.
