Aakash Bavishi is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Director of Sports Cardiology in the University of Illinois College of Medicine’s Division of Cardiology. His clinical and research interests focus on athletes and patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, including HCM and genetic cardiomyopathies. He is trained across cardiovascular imaging modalities, including echocardiography, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, and nuclear imaging, and is board-certified in these imaging specialties as well as internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. His training included medical school, residency, and general cardiology fellowship at Northwestern University, followed by advanced echocardiography fellowship at Columbia University and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and sports cardiology fellowship at Atlantic Health Medical Center. In February 2025, he was listed as a speaker for an Illinois ACC webinar on HCM and genetic cardiomyopathies.
