About

A cardiovascular physiologist, he studies autonomic control of circulation and the mechanisms behind elevated sympathetic nerve activity in type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

His laboratory studies central and peripheral mechanisms of altered circulatory control in diabetes, especially abnormal elevations in sympathetic nerve activity during disease development.

Mizuno earned his doctorate at Waseda University and completed postdoctoral training at UT Southwestern before joining its faculty.
