Gabriela Magda

Gabriela Magda is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Columbia's Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care and a transplant pulmonologist and intensivist in the Lung Transplant Program. Raised in Queens by immigrant parents and the first in her family to attend college, she studied neural science and journalism at NYU, earned her MD at Tulane (2014), trained in internal medicine at Georgetown and in pulmonary and critical care at NYU (2020), where she worked in the Bellevue MICU during New York's first COVID-19 surge, then completed a year in advanced lung disease and transplant pulmonology at UCLA (2021). Her publications centre on lung transplant outcomes, including single-author reviews of post-transplant opportunistic infections and Columbia cohort studies on retransplantation, organ preservation, single-lung transplant and waitlist outcomes. She is a member of CHEST, the ATS and ISHLT and speaks Romanian.
