James Enlou Tcheng is a Duke University faculty leader whose work connects interventional cardiology, cardiovascular trials, clinical informatics, and academic appointments. He is Professor of Medicine, Associate Dean for Academic Appointments, and Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health at Duke. His interests include antithrombotic therapies, artificial intelligence, clinical data standards, interoperability, and structured reporting. He has designed, led, and conducted numerous clinical trials, including EPIC, EPILOG, EPISTENT, and SUPPORT. His recent publications address FHIR-enabled registry submission, machine-learning fairness, patient-centered medication reconciliation, antithrombotic regimens, and pulse-oximetry equity. Tcheng earned his M.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1982, completed internal medicine training at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and was a Duke cardiology fellow from 1986 to 1988. He was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 2022 to 2025.
