William Jonathan Parsons is a cardiologist and Duke faculty member whose career spans clinical cardiology, cardiovascular imaging, molecular cardiology, and experimental studies of myocardial oxygenation. He has been an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Duke University Medical Center since 2019 and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at Campbell University School of Medicine since 2019. Earlier, he held faculty appointments at Duke from 1989 to 1991 and at UT Southwestern from 1991 to 1993, where he worked in molecular cardiology. His clinical interests include cardiovascular imaging, vascular medicine, consultative cardiology, and preventive cardiology. Parsons earned an M.D. from Dartmouth in 1980, completed residency at Rochester and cardiology fellowship at Duke, and has published on cardiac oxygenation, coronary disease imaging, muscle physiology, and cellular signaling.
