Susan S. Kim is a Northwestern cardiology faculty leader specializing in cardiac electrophysiology and heart rhythm disorders. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine (Cardiology), Director of the Cardiac Implantable Electronic Device Clinic, and Director of Cardiac Electrocardiography. Her clinical practice includes atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular and ventricular tachycardia, and bradycardia, managed through observation, medication, catheter ablation, pacemakers, and defibrillators. Her scholarship includes work on cryoballoon ablation, pulmonary-vein isolation, cardioversion, ventricular-arrhythmia treatment, and procedural imaging. She earned her MD from the University of Chicago in 1999, completed residency at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in 2002, and fellowships at University of Chicago Hospitals in 2005 and 2006. She also maintains a strong teaching interest and previously taught junior-high mathematics through Teach For America.
