Adult cystic fibrosis clinical research (CFF Therapeutics Development Network)[8]


Emily DiMango is Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Director of the Gunnar Esiason Adult Cystic Fibrosis Center (which cares for nearly 300 adults with CF) and of the Asthma Research Program, co-Director of the CF Foundation Therapeutics Development Network site at Columbia, and an Assistant Dean of the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. She earned her MD at NYU and completed internship, residency and pulmonary fellowship at Columbia-Presbyterian. Her early bench work in JCI described how Pseudomonas aeruginosa products stimulate IL-8 and NF-kappaB in respiratory epithelial cells, and she has since been a site investigator in the NHLBI Asthma Clinical Research Network and the ALA Airways Clinical Research Centers (NEJM and AJRCCM asthma trials), an author of the 2020 NAEPP asthma guideline focused updates, and a leader in CF trials including SIMPLIFY and studies of elexacaftor-tezacaftor-ivacaftor on sinonasal symptoms and quality of life. She currently chairs the national CFF TDN Protocol Review Committee, sits on the ALA-ACRC executive committee, the NHLBI National Asthma Education and Prevention Program and the CF Foundation Center Committee, and is MPI with Charles Emala on NCCIH R61/R33 awards testing ginger in asthma.
