Donald O. Nutter is a Northwestern cardiologist and medical-education leader whose work connected clinical training, faculty evaluation, and institutional reform. He is Professor Emeritus of Medicine (Cardiology) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. After earning his MD from George Washington University in 1961, he completed an internship at Albany Medical College of Union University and residencies at George Washington University Hospital and Emory University Affiliated Hospitals. In 2000, he was Executive Associate Dean of Northwestern University Medical School and studied the state of clinical education in American medical schools. He also served as Petersdorf Scholar in Residence from 2000 to 2001 and as Co-Chair of the LCME. His publications addressed educational productivity, faculty effort, medical-education reform, and combined medicine-management training.
