J.D. Serfas is a physician leader in adult congenital heart disease (ACHD), serving as director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program at the University of Kansas Health System. He specializes in catheter-based interventions for adults with congenital heart disease and sees patients in a cardio-obstetrics clinic. His practice includes transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement, structural defect closure, coarctation repair, vascular stenting, and complex single-ventricle interventions, including care for patients with Fontan palliation. His interests also include valvular and coronary artery disease and complex percutaneous coronary interventions. He earned his MD from Wake Forest in 2013, completed internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital from 2013 to 2016, and undertook cardiology, ACHD, structural heart disease, and interventional cardiology training at Duke through 2023. He participates in clinical research focused on ACHD and interventional outcomes.
