Paula Rambarat is a Duke cardiology fellow pursuing advanced training in heart failure and transplant cardiology. She completed undergraduate study at Duke, majoring in biology and minoring in Spanish, earned her medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and completed Internal Medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital before returning to Duke for cardiovascular disease fellowship in 2022. During medical school, she received a Howard Hughes Medical Institute research fellowship and conducted basic-science research on allosteric regulation of G-protein-coupled receptors in Robert Lefkowitz’s Duke laboratory. Rambarat has expressed interest in an academic cardiology career focused on heart failure, transplant, and pulmonary hypertension. Born and raised in Barbados, she moved to Chapel Hill during high school.
