Albert Liu is a cardiac electrophysiologist whose clinical and academic interests grew from personal experience with atrial fibrillation and premature ventricular contractions. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Pomona College and a medical degree from UCLA, where he worked with the electrophysiology group on the mechanistic underpinnings of PVCs. His background also includes involvement with Asian American and Pacific Islander advocacy groups and tutoring members of the Tongan community. Born and raised in Southern California, Liu has described advocacy for vulnerable and disenfranchised populations as a motivation for pursuing medicine. Northwestern’s 2023 alumni listing identified him with a Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. In December 2025, he was listed as a UCSF speaker on evaluating family members of sudden cardiac arrest victims.
