Aarti Thakkar is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Cardiology at Duke University whose stated career plans center on academic cardiology in general, preventive cardiology, and imaging. A Duke-trained physician, she attended Duke University and Duke University School of Medicine before completing residency at Johns Hopkins. Her earlier work combined community-based care and global health: she volunteered with the Duke Hotspotting Initiative during its first year, was a Doris Duke International Clinical Research Fellow in 2018-2019, and spoke at Duke’s 2019 Global Health Research Showcase. In 2024, she was a keynote speaker at a community event addressing cardiovascular risks among South Asian populations. She holds MD and MPH degrees and enjoys hiking, walking, and swimming with her husband.
