David J. Mehlman is a Northwestern cardiologist whose career combines echocardiography, general cardiology, prosthetic heart valve disease, personalized patient care, and mentorship. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and is affiliated with Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Mehlman earned his MD from Johns Hopkins University in 1973, completed internal medicine training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and pursued cardiology fellowship training at the University of Chicago Hospitals in 1978. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. A September 2023 Feinberg feature documented 43 years on the Northwestern faculty and described his legacy of training generations of cardiologists. His honors include Castle Connolly Top Doctor recognitions in 2004-2006 and 2016-2019.
