Maria Price Rapoza is a Duke University cardiovascular research leader whose work connects research administration, basic science infrastructure, and physician-scientist development. She has been Executive Director of the Duke University Cardiovascular Research Center since late 2015, providing executive management for cardiovascular research. She is also an Associate Professor in Medicine and supports graduate medical trainees interested in basic research, including through the R38 research during residency program. Rapoza earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Duke in 1994. Previously, she was Vice-President of Science and Technology at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, where she led programs intended to strengthen research in North Carolina. Her broader service has included advisory roles with the Triangle Global Health Consortium, REACH NC, and the NC Association for Biomedical Research.
