Jonathan Ball Mark is a Duke anesthesiologist whose listed work focuses on making perioperative cardiovascular monitoring more accurate, clinically useful, and safer. He is Professor Emeritus of Anesthesiology at Duke University. After earning an M.D. from Stanford University in 1978, he completed internal medicine internship at Kaiser Permanente Northern California (1978-1979) and anesthesiology residencies at Stanford (1979-1981) and Mass General Brigham/Brigham and Women’s Hospital (1981-1982). His past roles included Assistant Professor of Medicine, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology with Tenure, Professor of Anesthesiology, and Chief of the Division of VA Anesthesiology. His interests include cardiovascular monitoring, transesophageal echocardiography, perioperative monitoring guidelines and certification, and patient safety through clinician training, education, and device design.
