Brandy Patterson

Brandy Patterson is a cardiologist whose work centers on women’s cardiovascular health and cardio-oncology. She earned her M.D. from the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in 2004 and completed cardiology fellowship at the University of Florida College of Medicine from 2008 to 2011, following residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pennsylvania. After fellowship, she joined the University of Pennsylvania faculty, focusing clinically on women. She later practiced at UVA Health System, where she combined cardiology care, research interests, and community outreach related to women’s heart health. At Duke, she contributes to cardio-oncology and general cardiology. Her public education has addressed cardiovascular risk, symptoms, and heart-healthy living.

During cardiology fellowship, she identified the underrepresentation of women in cardiovascular clinical trials as a professional concern and motivation for patient education.
